Weaving Nature, 2023
Weaving Nature is a land art project that explores the intervention of textiles in natural environments located in “El Salto de Molino” in Quesa/Valencia (Spain). Through textile materials, known for their ephemerality, fragility and temporality, the work contemplates the correlation between time and nature, the handmade and the naturally grown, the intimate and the external, and to reflect on the human impact on nature. Another dimension of the work is unveiled through a nocturnal UV light source, highlighting the installation’s glow and evoking reminiscences of the bioluminescent capabilities of certain fungi or algae. The project merges art, craft, nature and social collaboration, particularly involving women from the local textile association in Quesa/Valencia (Spain).
The project was funded by “Enclave Land Art” and all embroidery threads utilized were generously sponsored by Grupo Sercompuma, Catarroja/Valencia (Spain).
