Measuring unknown matter, 2021

The spatial installation explores the question of certainties and the unknown as well as the tension between these two dimensions. Inspired by the work of the Dark Energy Survey, which regularly scans and maps an eighth of the sky for dark energy in order to investigate the accelerated expansion and structure formation of the universe, this room installation creates an artistic version that makes unknown structures physically tangible. Only about 5% of the universe consists of known matter such as stars and planets, the rest is unknown physics that is being scientifically explored through several models.
